As if I needed another book in the queue to read.....I subscribe to a couple of free Kindle book blogs and they keep me well supplied with reading material. The Calico Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772374749065425388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3923392623681233510.post-80457959718229844662012-08-06T09:07:34.728-07:002012-08-06T09:07:34.728-07:00Oh, rats, now I'm confused again! The colors are (in the same order as yours): teal, gold, rust, espresso for the top row and lt green, med green, ecru, leaf print for the bottom row. The leaf print is from Bittersweet by Nancy Halvorsen. Are these going to fight with the theme of the blocks? Should it be more nautical? I don't have nautical fabrics right now. Any help you can offer without blowing the mystery would be appreciated! The Calico Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772374749065425388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3923392623681233510.post-32945350648808429642012-08-06T06:12:45.213-07:002012-08-06T06:12:45.213-07:00A child will love this quilt. I've made several of these mystery quilts. I don't use the same fabrics bur try to select a color scheme that relates to hers - for example, where she has purple/gold/hot pink/black, I have rust/yellow/peach/espresso brown. I picked a light tan for her light aqua, and two greens for her two teals. I substituted a leaf print for her aqua print on the bottom far right. I try to match her color choice intensity and depth in my choices. Hope this helps. The Calico Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772374749065425388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3923392623681233510.post-67736160596722539272012-08-04T17:17:14.475-07:002012-08-04T17:17:14.475-07:00I haven't done any of your mystery quilts befo...I haven't done any of your mystery quilts before. I would like to try this one. Do we have to use the colors that are in your example? And prints or solids? Sorry, I'm confused. LOL! Is there any where else that you have more explanations? I started digging in the fabric closet looking for possible selections and of course I came up with two sets than may work - each very different. I hope to use this as a Project Linus quilt, so each has a focus fabric for the border that is a juvenile print, one more so than the other. I guess I'll have to wait until step 2 to decide which I will use. Can't wait until next week! Thanks for doing the mystery quilts. The Calico Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772374749065425388noreply@blogger.com
